CATS the Movie (2019) review

CATS the movie (2019) would be getting a lot of bad reviews right now but to be fair with Tom Hooper and the ensembles and crew that made this musical movie to the big screen, I think it is not so bad. In fact, for a musical that has been very mysterious to me even if I watched it in theater, the movie is a good help to understand its plot. For those who are looking for a storyline behind this celebrated Andrew Lloyd Weber musical, the feline treat is yours to love or hate.
Taylor Swift as Bombalurina in CATS
For the set design, this one offered more to visualize what's going on, from the dumps to the human jungle as where a cat would dwell. An affordable treat for everyone who can't see it in live theater.
Cats is an imperfect movie and there are lots of changes that was lifted from the musical to give a different Cats experience. Non-fans and first-timers may not fully understand it with their complex and uber poetic names that's why "The Naming of Cats" was sung. Let's wait if there's a sing-along version. 😉
The ensemble is no question very talented and the body flexibility is very noticeable. Especially Francesca Hayward whose ballet dancing skills were amazing. You'll have fun with the dance spectacle until the Jellicle Ball.
Francesca Hayward as Victoria in CATS
While Cats features James Corden (Bustopher Jones) and Rebel Wilson (Jennyanydots), their roles were almost forgettable and you can just move fast for the next number. But then Jason Derulo as Rum Tug Tugger was eating his words for the song. They changed Old Deuteronomy! Judi Dench gave the matriarchal appeal for Old Deut but try to research on a certain "back story" and what it implies, you'll begin to ask Tom Hooper a big "WHY?"

Costumes are okay but I hoped that they had completely taken advantage of the CGI time and listened to the critics when their trailer first appeared. Fingers and fingers everywhere when you could have expected furry paws. They missed the noses. The Jellicle Moon appears and the cats tails were like something that a kid should not see. Then Idris Elba's Macavity especially when he strips his coat (was he wearing another cat's fur?) leaves me out of words to say. Sometimes I can see seams from their costumes which could have been avoided. 😩

Jennifer Hudson's Grizabella and Memory were ok but I think went too much over the top. They didn't even gave her a tissue for wiping but I really felt her. There are some awkward shots that makes her head a little smaller.

I guess that Cats deserves our opinions but I suggest that you do your research first or watch the clips from YT. Now showing in theaters and bring your family to the Jellicle Ball.

HOW TO BE SINGLE movie review

A movie for the girls. Warner Bros. Pictures bring an unusual team-up with Dakota Johnson and Rebel Wilson in the Valentine-comedy How to Be Single that opens February 11 in theaters. A day early in the Philippines so that the singles could start partying in advance. But the movie celebrates singlehood so it's also okay to spend a few bucks in the movie house with your bestest friends. Alright, even couples can watch this.
HOW TO BE SINGLE is definitely funny and would generally talk about enjoying the single life. We have Dakota Johnson as Alice trying to have a taste of independence within the relationship that's why she's going away from her boyfriend. Then finding herself with Robin (Rebel Wilson) who lives the happy-go-lucky life in New York City, partying every night and not ever going home. Both of them will teach us what will be right or wrong in being a single person and creating a new dimension where we can comfortably fit in. It will be a roller coaster for Alice turning from one man to another and knowing the pros and cons of getting into bed or a commitment. But then, we also bump into her sister, Meg (Leslie Mann) who is also scared of relationships because of responsibilities and changes she may encounter. And there was Lucy (Alison Brie), using the numbers game in search of the right guy in millions of people around the city.
Honestly, I see the movie as one-sided, in favor of the ladies. The guys looked like specimens of affection that will just be there when the ladies need to get laid. The story has been written only for the ladies as if the guys didn't have to look for a partner because ladies come to them. They tried to balance this perception into David (Damon Wayans Jr.) dissing Alice out the relationship somehow redeemed the gentlemen. Tom (Anders Holm) fixing the life that he had, and Josh (Nicholas Braun), Alice's ex-boyfriend, also opted to move on.

This film offered a lot of tips on how to be single. Learning to look good on your own and survival ,ut my most favorite is from Robin. Though it's crazy to have people paying all of expenses outside of your home, you can have your money on your own and maybe get rich! Rebel Wilson can also pull off a drama. Unlike from Pitch Perfect, where her serious face still makes her funny, her lines can sink in to the heart.

Rebel Wilson teaches Dakota Johnson on How to Be Single

Finally there's a movie to celebrate singlehood this Valentines Day! From Warner Bros. Pictures, Dakota Johnson and Rebel Wilson, together with Leslie Mann and Alison Brie, star in How To Be Single. A movie teaching us how to enjoy single life at the center of everything.
In the film, there’s a right way to be single, a wrong way to be single, and then…there’s Alice. And Robin. Lucy. Meg. Tom. David. New York City is full of lonely hearts seeking the right match, be it a love connection, a hook-up, or something in the middle. And somewhere between the teasing texts and one-night stands, what these unmarrieds all have in common is the need to learn how to be single in a world filled with ever-evolving definitions of love. Sleeping around in the city that never sleeps was never so much fun.

Dakota Johnson stars as Alice, who sets the adventure in motion when she takes a break from her college boyfriend to get her first real taste of the single life and is hurled into a hilarious crash course in the “right way” to do it from Rebel Wilson’s alpha-single Robin, who lives the film’s tagline: If you’re not having fun being single, you’re not doing it right. We also meet Alice’s big sister Meg, played by Mann, an obstetrician who is too busy to find Mr. Right; and Alison Brie’s Lucy, a college professor who has it down to a science.
