Lent in the Philippines 2012

the Philippines is known for being the country with the most Catholics in South East Asia. aside from celebrating the world's longest Christmas, devotees of the Catholic church display the gesture of remembering the Passion of the Christ in the 40 days of lent. an obvious example is the array of images portraying the scenes of the Passion and the key characters that lived in the Gospel days.

in an exhibit at Sta. Lucia East Mall in Cainta, Rizal, life-size images are displayed in this fashion:

Scenes from The Way of the Cross

Christ

Mary
these wooden or ivory images are adorned with elegant clothes and accessories made of brass which are included in processions during the Holy Week.

you can find the other photos in my Facebook page but you can check them out for yourself at the exhibit at Sta. Lucia East Mall. the exhibit runs whole lent before Holy Week (April 1-8, 2012). you can write your petitions at the papers beside every image and donations are also accepted.

Coming Soon: NEXT FALL

The title of this post may be very theatrical. "Coming Soon" and "Next Fall" may give you a teaser of what's happening in the movie scene in a very anticipative though sounds like redundant to the ear. But what we should be watching out is Next Fall itself -- a straight play about two gay men who were very in love with each other and discovered their differences after a night of passion.
The play was originally written by Geoffrey Nauftts and crossed Broadway. It is set in around 2005 - 2009, not very old play, depicting the modern gay relationship. Though this features a gay couple, the dialogue opens the reality of the modern living of how people react on religious things. The show is like a TV sitcom with its content and humor.

Directed by Audey Gemora, starring Bart Guingona and David Bianco as Adam and Luke, the gay couple who are living in a fiery relationship but clashing their religious beliefs. Adam is an aetheist -- despite his biblical name and Luke believes in God and all. So what would happen to them, moving in together?

In the next videos, listen to what Director Audey Gemora has to say about Next Fall. And see an excerpt of Next Fall with our cast.
Opening on the 13th of January to February 5, 2012, Next Fall is Repertory Philippines' 2012 season opening. Staging at Onstage in Greenbelt 1, Makati City. For information call 5716926 or 5714941 or visit www.repertory.ph.
