The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies character posters unveiled

Warner Bros. Pictures has finally released the character posters for the third installment in the JRR Tolkien epic, The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies. Click on the link below this collage to view the full images.

We see the characters in close up whereas they are like in the verge of a fight where ashes fall down on them. Galadriel keeps her immaculate image in that fierce look.

The Hobbit is a prequel to the Academy Award-winning Lord of the Rings Trilogy marks the end of Bilbo Baggins' adventures with Thorin Oakenshield and a company of Dwarves. Reclaiming the Lonely Mountain from the Dragon Smaug, the Company has unleashed a deadly threat to Middle Earth.

The Hobbit is an epic history before JRR Tolkien's The Lord Of The Rings whereas Bilbo Baggins narrates his adventures 60 years before the danger of the One Ring which will be his nephew Frodo Baggins' tale.

The Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies releases in cinemas December 12 in 2D, 3D and Imax formats. Distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures (Philippines).

Tour below Paris in As Above/So Below

Who wants to go to Paris? United International Pictures gives all thrill-seekers perfect to haunt you this Halloween. As Above/So Below is a horror/thriller that even I was spooked just watching the trailer by itself.

The story goes around the tour in the Catacombs beneath the glorious streets of Paris. Little that we know about the dark past of the city in which young thrill-seekers are about to experience in this movie. Taking shots were even creepier with the stories of the 220-feet below the ground of Paris.

Leading the cast is Perdita Weeks whose character is to vindicate his father's beliefs about the Catacombs. Director John Erick Dowdle finds Weeks the perfect person for the role as they see her with depth to carry the character. She plays Scarlett, a British scholar of archaeology and rebellious thrill-seeker who is driven by the death of her father.

This is also Weeks' challenging role as she endures hours of makeup and play in the mud for a good chunk of production. She adds: "This was the most physically challenging role I have ever played: from sprinting with heavy cameras and battery packs on my head, to abseiling and crawling through bone tunnels on hands and bruised knees, all the while head to toe in 'blood' and dirt...it was exhausting and exhilarating in equal measure.”

the stages on 2014: Repertory Philippines

it would be a very busy 2014 with a lot of beautiful productions on stage by different theater companies that will take the stage this year.

last month, i was priviledged to witness the launch of Repertory Philippines' productions for this year with a great variety of shows. this January, they will open with a thrilling play about a blind woman entitled WAIT UNTIL DARK. this is written based on the movie where Audrey Hepburn was nominated for an Oscar in 1967. Liesl Batucan does the role of Susy and will be directed by Miguel Faustmann.

following that AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY which will also be playing in cinemas after it's release in theater in February. Merryl Streep does the lead in this Tony-award winning masterpiece with Ewan McGregor and Julia Roberts. but with Repertory Phils. Baby Barredo heads the family and will undergo tough  situations that she has to deal with her children. opening February 21 to March 16.

NOISES OFF sets the tone lighter in this play-within-a-play format. you'll know why when you see it this March 28. and as directed by Miguel Faustmann. you'll see Liesl Batucan, Joel Trinidad and more.

i will be delighted when we approach the second half of the year with two enchanting productions that is best for the whole family, especially the kids. PINOCCHIO and SCROOGE, two of my most-loved tales that has great morals and wonderful set and characters executions. childhood will be coming back and is also a great way to anticipate the festive season of Christmas.

Pinocchio starts August 16 as the Theater for Young Audiences will be presenting the Italian tale directed by Ms. Joy Virata. Scrooge, on the other hand, will be on November with Miguel Faustmann as the title role.

a murder to solve from the afterlife is how RIPD presents itself to the audience. a recently murdered cop Nick (Ryan Reynolds) is being recruited by the Rest In Peace Department - a police district of the spirit world which catches bad spirits lurking among the world of the living.

teaming up with Roy (Jeff Bridges), Nick stumbles in the action scene in a form he didn't even imagine but had no choice to perform the duty as a spiritual police officer. the world of spirits are filled with monsters and demons that hide in human form but our cops have this special detective capabilities to track them down, more so an advantage for Nick to hunt his murderer.

a movie for the whole family, THE CROODS takes you on an adventure of survival and making your life worthwhile for everyone around you. the roller coaster journey of the first family is a combo of laughter, drama, courage, and love.

THE CROODS are just your average family, an over-protective father, an open-minded mom, a granny that doesn't believe much of his son-in-law, a teenage daughter, a meat-head son, and a wild child. together they were confined in a cave and gets out in fear looking for their means of survival. but when their cave got destroyed from the continental drift, the Croods finds it hard to adjust themselves.

in every family, the teenage child always gets into the curiosity and urges to take some new adventure. Eep (Emma Stone) opens her world into new thinking that her father would not sink in. adding to Grug's (Nicolas Cage) own fear is Eep's separation to his domain by meeting Guy (Ryan Reynolds), a smart boy that has relatively experienced many things in survival.

being stuck in an evolving world, THE CROODS is a colorful journey through earth's change. notice that accepting change is a subliminal subject in the movie. close family ties is also very prominent that everyone can relate to, especially fathers to their daughters. relationships should be reciprocative though it entails sacrifices. every action takes a noble character.

THE CROODS is also a visually-enticing movie for kids. with weird creatures that are ongoing evolution, kids and adults alike think on identifying these creatures and even so the animals they resemble currently. it's a great watch in 3D.

LONSDALE: mark of champions

it was a great surprise to receive a package and knowing a lot of its history. it's not just the material on how it was manufactured, the history that made its character is what a LONSDALE brand is all about.
LONSDALE was originally from London, a land of bureaucrats, named from the 5th Earl of Lonsdale, Hugh Cecil Lowther, who first organized boxing matches with gloves. it was noted in that time in 1891, three boxers died from that fist boxing without the sports equipment that we know today. it was less than two decades after that boxing title belts were introduced by the Lonsdale belt, after it was donated by Lord Lonsdale. and so the history and tradition continues.

in 1959, the name Lonsdale was officially used as a brand by Bernard Hart for his boxing clothing and equipment after granted by the 7th Earl. the brand was eventually became a hit and later endorsed by big celebrities in the sports and entertainment industry.

a testimonial to TADO

doing a favor for a friend, i was starstruck seeing Strangebrew's BrewRat, Arvin Jimenez, in person. fondly called TADO by everyone, the activist, politician, writer, life coach, funny man, radio announcer, TV personality, the person is much down to earth and very accommodating in entertaining his fans and guests.

TADO is a graduate of Psychology in Polytechniic University of the Philippines. the university where i came from. a father of 4, Arvin "TADO" Jimenez is also a businessman and seeing the other side of the person makes him more interesting. his store in Marikina shows the different side of him and it is portrays his deeper, more serious type.

while looking around the store LimiTADO, i can see the Bohemian blood in the person. his love for peace, freedom, diversity and art can be seen all throughout. i got these two items which my friend asked me to have Tado signed into.

each cost Php 150 and if you find Tado in the store, he will be very generous to sign them for you. much to my priority, i forgot to bring the other book he also wrote. but thank you, Tado. the moment is very much treasured.

Six Degrees of Separation from Lilia Cuntapay is a highly-acclaimed Pinoy movie that features the most popular aswang of them all -- Lilia Cuntapay in her first major film featuring her and made her won her first Best Actress Award in the CinemaOne Originals Film Festival.

at first we were all afraid of her but this lady flew all over the world gathering fans, Pinoy or not. and on October 31, in the tradition of Halloween, this would be the time that fans will line up. not to the cemetery entrances but to the cinemas.
