Twenty Plus is One: Splash Island wars

it was the morning of April 16 2009 when the whole office of Beginnings at 20 Plus went to Splash Island in Biñan, Laguna. days prior to our trip, we were already assigned to our teams namely: Blue, Aqua, Red and Green. the team leaders were pointed out and on alert on what's going to happen with the whole event. as expected, it was a competition between teams trying to outplay each other with fun-filled games and experiences in Splash Island, facilitated with Global Gutz.
Splash Island is now managed by Global Gutz now adding more attraction than just the regular water fun to enjoy the summer. the new team building facilities were taken advantage by our company for us not only to have just a regular summer outing but more of gaining more friends in the office for a better working environment.

THE GAMES
Cheering Competition
it was like Olympics when we started with the cheering competition. as for my team's first activity, we have to know each other first. we acknowledged everyone's names to get acquainted. three big names are in my team: the president, the production head and our department manager. it was a hard task for me to get my guts up and motivate my superiors. but the responsibility and belief was already put on my head and all i have to do is do my job as their leader.
a variation of concepts came up for the cheering competition. some spread from circles and deliver their chants and build recall. Blue team got the first place in the cheering competition.

The Bamboo Relay
the goal is to race against the other team with a bamboo. only 5 players per team will round the post and complete 3 rounds at the least possible time. two games sets are set between Blue team vs Aqua team and Green team vs Red team. on the first set, Blue won over Aqua and Green beat the Red team on the second set.
The Crocodile Pit
objective is to transfer all members of the team to the other side of a 2-meter long mock-pit using 2 crates, 2 wood planks and a thin stick. imagine that there are crocodiles at the distance so if anything touches the pit, we have to start all over again. we gained progress are the first attempt but we failed. though we haven't got the first place, this activity really made the team closer and we trusted each other more.
Trolley Relay
after the mind-boggling Crocodile Pit, we had another relay. it's like skiing with 4 other teammates racing against another team. we won this time with the smooth cooperation of my teammates and focus on the goal.

Paintball
after a yummy lunch, and by that time we are really getting stinky, we had real war going on -- with Paintball of course. this new facility on Splash Island has made a chance for the other teams throw their wrath against us after their defeats. (lol) besides, Green Team leads the whole event.
each player is given 50 paintballs and complete battle gear. the battle took 3 hours under the heat of the sun. i got hit on the first set of battle on the wrist and it didn't hurt at first. it's as they say, a mosquito bite. but you will endure the pain as the time flies.

it was like a war on terror as my officemates look like the Abu Sayyaf Gang and MILF troops.

finally we get on the water. it was like Amazing Race in which we have to try all the giant slides on Splash Island. first we tried the Balsa River and tried all, one after the other. we finished second in the race but adding up all the scores from the other events, we came 1st!

the Green Team dominated almost all events. next is the Blue Team which is a close contender to us, then the Red team and finally the Aqua team to wrap it up. we had a little reporting about the whole activity and it seemed like everybody enjoyed.

TAKAW ROFLMAO!

July 15 2008 - Araw ng Sweldo

it was customary for me to eat out with officemates during payday. eventhough my dad prepares my lunch everyday, i sneaked out of the house this morning without the food he prepared. in my efforts not to spend a lot for my meal, i bought a set meal from Manong Cecilio: our regular maglalako ng merienda and lunch. i selected the kare-kare with rice and banana for lunch. i even had the chance to buy mushroom soup at nearby KFC branch to warm my stomach kasi medyo malamig na rin yung inorder ko kay manong.

every boring day, actually this goes on for weeks already after we transfered at the new office. nakarinig pa nga kame ng barilan dito sa may shell maya. chismis na personal na away pero i don't get the point na bakit hindi na lang nya sugurin sa loob ng building yung kaaway nya at kelangan pang gumawa ng mayabang na eksena. hirap talaga sumikat ngayon.

since very boring nga ngayon sa office at nawalan pa ng internet at a very long time, idagdag mo pa ang pag-expire ng installed game ko from Yahoo©, na-beat ko din ang spider solitaire at nag-experiment sa photoshop na wala namang kinahinatnan. lumabas na din ako ng office kasama ang ilan sa officemates para magpahangin sa labas. bibili sila ng tinapay sa malapit. pero paglingon ko sa likod sa Gloria Jean's ay may nakita akong 2 familiar na tao: mich and sharnie. lazily wasting time doon at nagbabasa ng magazines while sipping warm drinks. so join na lang ako sa kanila. bumili ako ng white chocolate latté with whipped cream on top. nakitusok sa mga pastries na kinakain nila at nakibasa na rin ng magazine. first time kong magbasa ng Sugar Sugar at fashion mag pala sya.

bago kame lumabas e i was still craving for something. namiss ko na ang maanghang na wasabe. sharnie and i decided na pumunta ng Bento Box. e hindi pa kame nakakapagpaalam king ging at mich dahil magbabayad pa sila sa BDO na offline pa!

pagdating ng Bento Box e umorder na ako ng miso soup at 8 pcs maki. si sharnie naman e salad ang inorder. nauna ang miso soup, sumunod ang salad at last ang maki. partida, naki-chopsticks pako ng salad kay sharnie at naunahan ko pa syang ubusin yung order ko. ngayon para na akong butete. i wanna get back on Hiphop Abs! natigil e, months na. hehe...

We're moving!

It's final. Effective this June, the new Beginnings @ 20Plus Inc. will be located at 6F Don Chua Lamko Bldg, LP Leviste cor. HV dela Costa Sts., Salcedo Village, Makati City. Haist, now this will be a longer walk from where I will be dropping off to office. Wala naman kasing shuttle service na dumadaan sa area na yan. If I'll be from Makati Medical Center, lakad to Ayala underpass by Convergys tapos akyat sa may GT Tower then walk to the building just right after McDonald's. And now we're in a higher level kaya magtyaga sa kakahintay ng elevator paakyat. Good luck din sakin pag umuulan! Oh well, buti nga mga corporate na rin ang mga ka-building namin. Hindi tulad dito sa Creekside na mga nightclubs ang kasama namin. Kala tuloy nung iba sa nightclub ang trabaho namin. lol! Kaso malayo na sa mga gimikan lalo! And we can't just get out of the office ata if we want to buy something or for some break.

Malate Starbucks

April 30 2008

This was not my first time in Malate but my first time in that area. Basta yung malapit sa mga Korean bars saka sa Cafe Adriatico. (yung marami daw pokers also as I have observed.) Dapat kasi we are going to this "unusual store" malapit sa area to buy a gift kaso the person who was planning to buy that "stuff" can't come with us. So we just decided to go sa KP2 restaurant para magdinner.

After dining, Joy and the others were not that excited to go home yet. And I wasn't feeling alright because of the food. I craved for something hot to drink so we went at Starbucks. Sadly, Chal has to go home before we even had our drinks. And while wasting time, and it's still a bit early, we took photos.

Heredero y Herederas del Chateau Escudero

An outing with officemates from TBN. At first hindi ako pumayag kasi nag-iinarte pako sa dami ng utang ko sa credit card. Pero nag-message naman si Joy na kung saan maga-outing. Sa Villa Escudero nga daw. E ako naman mejo alanganin kasi ang alam ko mahal dun. Nagplan na pala sila before pa ako pumunta ng Boracay. They were still hoping that I would come kahit last minute na ang announcement.

A week before e napag-usapan ulit ang Villa Escudero and Joy was sending GMs sa YM. Then I got interested kasi she sent the link to the resort. She also sent the expenses na I thought na napakamura na nya. We would only be spending about Php 3,000 for our stay and van rent. Balikan pa un. So sabi ko sa kanya na sulit! Go na! We were all excited na. But Sharnie and Jeff couldn't come with us kasi hindi sila pinayagan ng parents nila. So it was only me, Joy, Mich, Tins and Ging who will be going sa outing.

We decided to meet at 1PM sa McDo sa may DLSU Taft. And then we will go fetch Joy sa APC after her class on webdesigning. Late ako. hahaha... Kahit maaga na akong nag-empake ng mga gagamitin ko e marami namang ibang ginawa sa bahay like maglaba, magluto at mag-lunch, ayun ang dahilan kung bakit ako na-late. Mejo dyahe pa ngang humiram pako kay mama ng 2k para may panggastos ako pagdating ko dun. Nasa loob na pala ng starex sina Ging pero pumasok pako sa McDo sa pagaakalang nandun pa sila sa loob.

Then sinundo na namin si Joy sa may gasoline station sa APC at bumili muna ng groceries sina ging, mich at tina. Pinagasolinahan ko muna yung sasakyan para derecho na ang byahe namin. Pagdating ni Joy e todo-kwento sya sa prof nyang British na gwapings daw. Natrapik kame on the way at nakinig sa latest chismis about sa pagdating ni Gabby Concepcion sa Pilipinas. Halos buong Startalk ata e yun ang topic.

Pagdating namin sa San Pablo e Wish Ko Lang na. May 5-6 na simbahan din ata ang nadaanan namin papunta dun. Para iwasang mawala, nagtanong-tanong kame sa mga locals ng San Pablo. Yung una naming tinanong e medyo nautal kaya bigla nalang humirit si Erwin (pangalan ng driver) na thank you, thank you sabay takbo. Yung sumunod sabi diretso lang daw pero ang direksyon ng kamay nya e paliko kaya parang ang labo. Habang tinutunton namin yung turo ni manong, nakasalubong pa namin isang prusisyon kaya medyo trapik. Hindi boring magdrive si Erwin kasi magaling syang sumingit sa daan kahit kalaban nya mga trak.

Sa wakas nakarating din kame sa Villa Escudero ng mga 530PM. Bondary sya ng San Pablo, Laguna at Tiaong Quezon. Maaliwalas ang lugar at parang hindi summer kasi hindi gaano mainit. Pagdating namin dun sa reception pwede naman pala magcredit card. Edi sana nagswipe swipe nalang ako para sosyal. Hehehe... Kita mo na rin dun sa bungad yung bahay ng mga Escudero, yung plantation, yung antique museum at saka may malaking park dun na may mga batong kabayo saka fake na airplane. Pwede kayo magpicturan dun habang hinihintay nyo ang kalabaw o jeep.

Pagsakay namin ng sasakyang hila ng kalabaw na si Maganda, may kasama pang duet na maghaharana sayo papunta sa resort. In fairview alam ko ang mga kanta. Hahaha... Mga folk songs kasi na napag-aralan pa nung HS at mga naririnig ko dati nung nagpupuyat ako pag nanonood ako ng Aawitan Kita ni Armida Siguion-Reyna. Hahaha... Shempre medyo sumasabay naman ako kasi nga alam ko yung mga kanta. Corny ko naman kung KJ ako diba?

Pagdating namin sa resort e dinala kame sa Jasmin Room. Maganda. Dun na rin kame nagprepare before mag-dinner. Paglabas ko ng room e nakita ko ang isang grupo ng mga kalalakihan na umaawit alay sa isang dalagang nasa tahanang iyon. (hahaha... lalim!) Sabi ko tuloy sa mga kasama ko na bilisan nila ang pag-aayos at may mga manghaharana. Very cultural ang lugar kaya hindi ka makakalimot na Pinoy ka. Maayos at mabango ang room at hindi pinapasok ng lamok. In short, makakatulog ka anytime. But since medyo magaalas-7 na at oras na ng dinner, kelangan na magmadali at baka maubusan. Hehehe..

Ang daming pagkain! Nahilo ako sa kung ano ang pipiliin. Pero small servings muna dahil pwede naman bumalik at saka kelangan sulit ang 3000 na binayad mo! hahahaha... Though regular Filipino dishes e twisted naman. May harana pa on the side with Villa Escudero's Rondalla. As usual nakasabay na naman ako at muntik-muntikan na rin akong mag-grab ng mic para makasabay. hahaha...

Nung nabusog na kame ay talagang nagtanong c Mich kung meron daw bang videoke dun. Meron naman daw at Php10 ang bayad per song. Ihahatid pa sana kame ni kuya sa RecHall pero nahiya naman rin kame. Kame nalang nag-explore at nakarating naman kame dun. Mejo onti ang tao. Literally bilang ang tao. Meron kasi sa billiards na 5 ata, kame 5 rin, tapos ung staff na 5 din. Hahaha... May dumating na iba pero 2 lang ata.After nun nagpahinga na lang kame sa may reception area para magkwentuhan at magpicturan sa jeep na nakaparada. By 1230AM, bumalik na kame sa room namin saka natulog at nagcharge mga dapat i-charge.

Alam kong nag-charge ako ng 515AM para maaga din kameng makapag-liwaliw sa Villa. Pero ang makulit na Omar, natulog ulit. Hindi pa talaga ako nakakabawi ng tulog. At next na gising ko, ginising na nila ata ako ng 630. Gawa na lang ako ng palusot. Pero paggising ko, laging occupied ang banyo kaya hindi ako makapaghilamos man lang kaya tumambay muna ako sa labas para magpicture, amuyin ang sariwang hangin, at kahit papano amoy na rin ang nilulutong pagkain sa kusina. Nagpaaraw na rin ng onti dahil malamang e sipunin ako.

Pagdating namin sa Coconut Pavilion e langhap na namin ang sinangag at mga mainit-init pang mga putahe na nakahain sa lamesa. Dun pa sa mainit na pwesto kame hinatid ng waiter at malapit sa ilog. Pero di na alintana ang init at kami'y excited sa aming kakainin sa umagang iyon. May nakita pa kameng magandang aso na pagmamay-ari ng isang foreigner. Pangalan ng aso'y Scotty. At masunurin sya sa kanyang amo at giliw nyang hinihintay ang mga ibibigay sa kanyang tinapay o karne.

Maya-maya nakaramdam nako ng tawag ni Inang Kalikasan. buti nalang dinamihan ko kain ko para maganda ang signal ng communication namin. Hahaha... Ayun, successful naman. Tapos nagpunta na kame sa Lawa ng Labasin na hindi naman lawa kundi ilog. Excited ako kasi magrarafting kame. Kaso 2 tao lang kada balsa. E 5 kame at puro babae kasama ko. So kinaya ko nalang na ako lang mag-isa sa isang balsa pero kinabog ko silang lahat. Ako pa nga ang nagtulak sa kanila para makalayo sa pampang. Tapos ako rin unang nakalayo. Feel ko ang sexy-sexy ko at parang ako si Richard Gomez sa ever popular na /bench ad.

Bumalik kame sa Jasmin para magrefresh ulit at magpicturan sa room pero hindi nyo dapat tignan. Hahaha... At next adventure namin ay magstroll sa hacienda. Paglabas namin ng reception ay nagpatawag sila ng kalabaw. Dumating si Sexy pero hindi pala kame sa kanya sasakay, tapos dumating si Rosalinda. Tamang-tama may mga calachuchi ang mga gels sa tenga nila parang si Thalia. Una naming napuntahan ang bahay namin (ehem!). Ang ganda pang-telenovela. 1932 unang tinayo ung bahay ng mga Escudero at ikatlong henerasyon ang nakatira dun sa ngayon. Buti nalang pwede magpapicture hanggang sa ilang metro paglagpas ng gate. Nung may nakakita sa amin na nagpipicturan sa bahay e gumaya na rin kaya nawala yung pag-emote-emote namin dun. Hahaha... Kitang-kita ang Banahaw sa likuran ng bahay.

Katabi ng bahay ang kapilya na ginawang museo ng mga antique. Nandun ang mga iba't ibang damit, kagamitan, santo, preserved na hayop, atbp. Kahit sa kaluma-lumaang panahon e makikita mo dun donated ng mga sikat na mga personalidad. Mga koleksyon ng bato, tanso, palayok, alahas, damit. Bawal magpicturan dun at makikita ka sa surveillance camera. Hindi ko alam kung bakit pero hindi naman nila kinuha yung mga dala naming camera pagpasok ng museo. Meron namang tour guide dun na nagexplain ng mga pinagmulan ng mga bagay-bagay dun. Kabisado pa nga nya yung love letters ng unang mag-asawang Escudero. Chismosang bata. Hahaha...

Pagbalik namin sa resort e kainan na sa Lawa ng Labasin. Dun sa falls maraming tao. Kala namin di na kame makakakain kasi dagsa yung mga tao para sa day tour. Tutal buffet na naman e talagang dadagsain. BBQ, isda, vegetable salad, pansit, etc. Ang dami pa rin! Para kameng bibitayin kinabukasan sa dami ng kinain namin. Biglang nagbabaan ang mga Igorot! Hahaha... Magpeperform ng cultural show ung mga un sa Coconut Pavilion so kelangan nila magpromote ng show. E sila rin ung mga nanghaharana, nagrorondalla, etc. C mich naglaway nung pagbaba nung mga naka-bahag. Hahaha... Parang 300 local version nga lang. Pero ako, c tina, c ging at c mich lang ang nakapagpa-group pic kasama cla. Pero c joy may solo pic! Si kuya naman e naka-smile talaga at mukhang sanay na sanay na. Hahaha...

Then swimming na! Nagpalit muna sila ng swimwear at ako at nagtanggal na lang ng sando. Tapos dun kame sa 5-ft na pool muna. Hindi kame nakapagpa-pic dun so punta kame sa 4-ft na pool. Mejo ok naman kame dun. Kinarir na rin namin ang timer ng camera ko. Ayun, nag-enjoy naman kame. Tapos pahinga at kumain ng chicha. Pinuntirya namin ni joy ung slide pero walang kwenta. Kame na rin mismo ang tumalon. Hahaha... By 330PM e umahon na kame at bumalik sa room para magbanlaw. And since "ladies first", ako na ang huling naligo at naabutan pa ng housekeeping. Sa pagmamadali e nagsabon nako habang nagsshower. Pero nakaempake nako nun kaya mabilis na ako nakapagprepare. Nakapag-uwi pako ng sabon na gawa dun kasi may sobra sa lababo na hindi nagamit. Hahaha...

May ikakasal nung hapong yun. Green yung theme sa pagkakaalala ko. Yun pala ang hindi namin napuntahan, yung chapel. Dun kinasal sina Lorna Tolentino at Rudy Fernandez. Tapos ninamnam na rin namin ang mga huling sandali sa Villa Escudero. Kay Rosalinda ulit kame nakasakay. Ang ganda ng breed ni Rosalinda talaga. Shiny leather ang katawan nya. Tapos napadaan kame sa kumpanyang nangangalaga ng Villa Escudero, ang VESPA. Hmmm... Applyan na! Hahaha...

Paglabas namin e nakita naming nasa gallery ang mga pictures namin. Sabagay nakikipicture si manong photographer nung nasa harap kame ng bahay. At naghihintay na rin pala si Erwin, ang aming driver. Idinaan muna namin si Tina sa may exit ng Laguna para sunduin sya ng parents nya papuntang Lipa. Then kwentuhan nalang kameng mga natira sa sasakyan. Mga bandang 8PM nakauwi nako. Haaay... Ang saya!

feb 14, walang okasyon na dapat i-celebrate aside sa birthday ng kapatid ko. maaga ako nagising. nag-anticipate ng maganda-gandang byahe papasok ng opisina. anak ng teteng! bakit trapik sa EDSA? 7:15 AM ako nakasakay ng shuttle pero dumating ako sa office ng 9:29 AM. kahit anong effort, ganun pa rin pala! kaasar.

tamang pag-online ko ay tumambad agad sa akin ang napakagandang listahan ng mga projects na kelangan gawin ko sa araw na ito. parang mga 40mins lang naman na isu-subtitle na mga projects pero gudlak na sa resources. muntik na ako magka-stiffneck dahil halos d ako gumalaw sa pwesto ko.

inaliw ko lang ang sarili sa pagbabasa ng mga blog kapag nakatapos ng isang project. napansin ko lang na wala ata masyado nag-discuss ng tungkol sa v-day. bakit? anu ba meron?
