totally GREASED!

it was just another high school musical for some, but 9 Works Theatrical's GREASE is a whole new experience and a wonderful sight to see and sing along with. the cast of Grease with Gian Magdangal, Francheska Farr, Iya Villana and Rafa Siguion-Reyna has all the audience the excitement and fun.
let's start with the set, of course, Mio Infante always does the best job for the stage design. converting the whole set into bleachers, and anything you can imagine, a part of your high school life, is truly amazing. remembering 9WT's last production, you will surely be amazed.
aside from our 4 lead actors, there were more who livened up Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium with their own numbers. Moo'ed by Reb Atadero and Sarah Facuri with their "exposed" song should really take a lot of guts. Vince Lim, a first timer to acting in theater is well-applauded by strumming and stealing the limelight among others. every actor gives a cheer and you'll stay smiling towards the end. more of that, you'll have to watch out who will be the Teen Angel. our eyes widened when we saw Tom Rodriguez popped out of the stage and sang. for the upcoming shows, watch out.

Francheska Farr's performance could be well-commented for another first-timer. but i think Hopelessly Devoted to You should have been sang with more power as audience can be expected to feel the emotions of the song. but to be fair to her, over-all performance is great. i could understand how difficult it is to sing, dance and act at the same time and getting the pressure of being the lead actress. she did very well and hoping for her to continue the career in theater.

for the theater-goers out there, Grease by 9WT is not just another musical from the company but it also returns you to the time that you had so much fun. the 13-show production runs until December. www.9workstheatrical.com.

you just got GREASED!

everybody knows John Travolta and Olivia Newton John. who doesn't aside from this generation? but for people who just have experienced high school or in high school right now, the memories that they had in this part of their life is just narrated over and over again, reminiscing how fun it is in high school.

a well-loved musical is set to relive those memories again when 9 Works Theatrical brings to Manila the story that John and Olivia told. GREASE! the decades-old musical but loved by many, starred by hit makers that will surely invite the young and the young at heart.

Gian Magdangal doing the role of Danny Zuko, as the easy-going leader of the T-Birds, and for the first time in musical theater, Francheska Farr plays Sandy Dumbrowski, capturing Danny's heart and a member of the Pink Ladies. Iya Villana and Jennifer Blair-Bianco alternate as Betty Rizzo, the sassy leader of the Pink Ladies.  and coming back to Philippine theatrical industry is Rafa Siguion-Reyna who plays Kenickie, T-Birds' second-in-command to Danny.
9WT Grease Cast
more of Grease Lightning power are 9 Works' fun cast of actors with their energetic melody to the songs like We Go Together, Look at Me, I'm Sandra Dee, Hound Dog and more. and 9 Works is to determined to add most loved songs from the movie, Hopelessly Devoted to You and You're the One That I Want to complete the whole musical package.

i'm really looking forward to the  costumes and stage. from last that I remember, I loved their production of They're Playing Our Song with that grand staging. Grease is definitely a must-see this time. i'm really going to start playing the soundtrack once again in my player.

Grease the Musical rocks Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium starting November 9 to December 1, 2013. directed by, of course, the talented Robbie Guevarra.

THE WEDDING SINGER MANILA review

after a long wait, 9 Works Theatrical has finally nailed THE WEDDING SINGER The Musical! the hit movie from 1998 starring Adam Sandler which got to Broadway is now in Philippine theater! it runs today October 23 until November 14 so you don't have to miss it.

starring Gian Magdangal who plays Robbie Hart very effectively. with his preppy look, the 80s isn't so far from his character. Iya VillaƱa playing Julia is as sweet as Drew Barrymore. Robbie Guevarra and Santi Santamaria knew it right that Iya is perfect for the role. even Nikki Valdez has done well as Holly. i never knew that she could move and sing like that. these three has done excellent in their own fields on television but you have to take a look at what they do in the theater! especially Iya, with her sweet image on TV, being in the musical is somewhat effortless.

get back into the 80's with the colors and the choreography. have a rock musical experience with the songs that can get easily in your head. the moves will really take you to memory lane with 80s icons Michael Jackson and Cyndi Lauper. this musical will also surprise Filipinos. with just around 2 months preparation of the choreography, they have done it really well.

i also loved the stage and how it transitions from scene to scene. the abstract squares and rectangles are used very well. though it is different from one scene, it always look like another wallpaper.

the only thing that i wished to be improved is the sound system in Meralco Theater. the echoes fill the auditorium so you may not catch clearly the songs.

THE WEDDING SINGER opens today, October 23 at the Meralco Theater. see ticket information here.
