TWISTERS movie review

I can still remember a scene wherein we are able to see inside the eye of a tornado in the 1996 version of Twisters. In this remake from the same producers, Warner Bros. Pictures, Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment, our characters are braver to get into it and apparently were able to find a solution to "tame" nature's wrath.
In Twisters, it advances the technology of forecasting a tornado and tracking its course which somehow our characters would be able to prevent its destruction and help in the survival of the communities it may hit.

The difference between the 1996 and this versions, is that they injected a love factor between Kate (Daisy Edgar-Jones) and Tyler (Glen Powell) while they are pursuing their passion with science. And what's more scary if a tornado hits at night? If I remember correctly, the 1996 version sends you in the experiences of the characters and it's very original at that time. That would make it a hit especially when played in a 4D theater house.
Daisy Edgar Jones and Glen Powell's on screen chemistry was at least not cringey and lines were not cheesy. Anthony Ramos at least got his character arc which I also thought if he was ever going to be in a love triangle with Kate and Tyler. But are conversations in Kate's old lab and scientific explanations accurate? Hope someone can explain to me in the comments.
Twisters is now playing in theaters.

Meet the Tornado Wranglers in Action in the New Featurette

A group of fearless storm chasers risk their lives to face one of nature’s most terrifying forces in “Twisters.” The epic disaster film arrives in Philippine cinemas on July 17, but movie-goers can get their tickets now ahead of everyone else by logging in at www.twisters.com.ph.

To join the audience in the thrill ride of the year, let’s meet the tornado wranglers:

Tyler Owens (Glen Powell), is the charismatic leader of the pack. A former rodeo star, Tyler found fame on social media as a viral “extreme meteorologist,” seeking thrills chasing intense storms across the country.

Once passionate about trying to predict, chase, and tame tornadoes, Kate Carter (Daisy Edgar-Jones) settles for a life behind the desk to escape the failure of her pursuit. When opportunity presents itself with an anomalous extreme storm, a shot at redemption, and a second chance for adventure, is revealed to her.

Javi (Anthony Ramos) is similarly haunted by the tragedy that befell Kate’s crew. He re-enters Kate’s life as an entrepreneur, developing technology that aims to study tornadoes in an attempt to tame them.

Joining the crew is Boone (Brandon Perea), who is part of Tyler’s squad as the videographer, capturing their escapades for social media. Lily (Sasha Lane), is also part of the crew as their drone-toting scouter.

Watch them chase the most extreme storms nature has to offer as “Twisters” crashes into Philippine cinemas on July 17.

“ANYONE BUT YOU” Opens in the Philippines January 17

Anyone But You, director Will Gluck’s new edgy romantic comedy starring Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell, has charmed its way to the global box office.
The film, which opened in the United States just before Christmas, opened in several overseas markets over the weekend, including in the United Kingdom and Australia, where the film is primarily set. Anyone But You has earned a total of $33.5 million dollars, with a few markets still lined up for the film’s opening, including Spain, France, Italy and the Philippines, where it opens in cinemas January 17, 2024.

“I think audiences want to see movies that are relevant, authentic, and cinematic – but most of all, fun,” says Gluck, a fan favorite in the genre, thanks to previous works including Easy A and Friends With Benefits.

In the edgy comedy Anyone But You, Bea (Sydney Sweeney) and Ben (Glen Powell) look like the perfect couple, but after an amazing first date something happens that turns their fiery hot attraction ice cold – until they find themselves unexpectedly thrust together at a destination wedding in Australia. So they do what any two mature adults would do: pretend to be a couple.
Directed by Will Gluck, co-written by Gluck and Ilana Wolpert. Produced by Gluck, Jeff Kirschenbaum and Joe Roth, and executive-produced by Sweeney.

Cast includes Sweeney, Powell, Alexandra Shipp, Darren Barnet, Hadley Robinson, Dermot Mulroney, Rachel Griffiths, Michelle Hurd, Bryan Brown and GaTa.

Opening in Philippine cinemas January 17, Anyone But You is distributed in the Philippines by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International.
